Jennifer Smith is a microbial and mammalian cell culture professional with 17 years industrial experience including experience in process development, optimization technology transfer to GMP and GMP operations. She has experience working with recombinant proteins, monoclonal antibodies, plasmid DNA and cell vaccine products. She is currently a Senior R&D Manager working at AstraZeneca within Biopharmaceutical Development in the Cell Culture & Fermentation Sciences group, based in Cambridge at Granta Park. Jennifer has 9.5 years experience in the Cell Culture & Fermentation Sciences group, key roles and responsibilities in current role include managing a small team in the Cell Culture & Process Design team and leading the upstream process development and optimisation of pipeline projects and technology transfer of processes to manufacturing. In addition, she is involved in a range of key technology development areas with a current focus on process improvements and medium and feed development. Previous to this, she has 8 years experience at a CMO, Cobra Biologics. Jennifer has a MSc in Industrial Biotechnology gained in 2002.
