Lorenzo joined AbbVie in 2008 as Senior Scientist to lead the Antibody Optimization group in Biologics Discovery and collaborate in the establishment of AbbVie proprietary fully human antibody discovery platforms. Lorenzo assumed the leadership of the In-Vitro Technology Group in 2014, a team of scientists who, collaborating with drug discovery project teams, identify and engineer AbbVie’s therapeutic antibody candidates in multiple therapeutic areas. Lorenzo became Principal Research Scientist in 2015 and is currently leading the Biologics team for the AbbVie-Calico collaboration. He also leads a specialized team dedicated to innovate engineering biology of targeted bi-specific biologics. Lorenzo has contributed to 12 publications in peer-reviewed journals and is listed as inventor in 20 US patents. Prior to joining AbbVie, he was a Postdoctoral Fellow at Harvard Medical School and attended the Venezuelan Institute of Research where he received his Ph.D. in Immunology.
