FluidFM: a new approach to CRISPR gene editing

The transportation of reagents into the nucleus of a cell remains one of the biggest challenges in gene engineering.
With traditional delivery methods, such as lipofection or electroporation, the success of CRISPR-Cas mediated gene editing is often suboptimal. Conventional methods deliver the reagents indirectly through the cytoplasm to the nucleus leading to poor cell viability and low transfection efficiency rates.
Furthermore, precision editing by Homology Directed Repair (HDR), occurs at even lower ratios. This is especially critical when working with rare or hard-to-transfect cells such as iPSCs, neurons or cardiomyocytes, making genome editing tedious.
In this Webinar, we will show you how the FluidFM BOT BIO Series overcomes these limitations by direct delivery into the nucleus.
Dr. Paul Monnier obtained his PhD in molecular biology from University Pierre and Marie Curie in Paris, while working on non-coding RNAs involved in epigenetic growth control of the embryo. After a postdoc at ETH Zurich, working on CRISPR genetic screens in stem cells and X-chromosome inactivation, he joined Cytosurge to set up their new biology laboratory. Here, he develops applications and protocols related to FluidFM technology in the field of Life Sciences.
Dr. Maria Milla obtained her PhD in Biochemistry at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (Spain), while studying the structure of mammalian metaphase chromosomes. After two postdoctoral stages in material sciences (ICMAB/CSIC, Barcelona) and single-particle analysis (ETH Zürich), she joined the Customer Support team at Cytosurge. With her scientific background, covering a wide range of molecular biology and microscopy techniques, she has an excellent set of knowledge and skills enabling her to find optimal solutions for our customers in the field of Life Science.
