Sasker Grootjans is a bio-engineer and scientist with a true passion for science and technology. He currently is senior IT project manager at UCB, managing various IT projects supporting UCB’s early research department. He brings nearly 15 years of experience in life sciences to the IT department, including hands-on biotechnological research and bio-informatics experience. His project teams develop and/or deploy innovative technologies and solutions covering Artificial Intelligence, Virtual Reality, modeling & simulation, statistics and imaging. Prior to UCB, Sasker conducted molecular signal transduction research at VIB and UGhent (Ghent, Belgium), the Spanish National Center for Oncological Research (CNIO) (Madrid, Spain) and the KULeuven (Leuven, Belgium). He has a MEng from KULeuven, a MSc from UGent and a PhD in Biotechnology from VIB/UGhent. In his free time, he likes spending time with his wife and two children, exploring new technology, contributing to citizen science projects and spending time outdoors.
