Sarah Brockbank is Lead Scientist of External Drug Discovery at the Discovery Medicines Catapult. In this role she supports SMEs develop and execute drug discovery projects by connecting them with expertise, technology and wet-lab capabilities and by providing the project management of virtual drug discovery programmes. Sarah graduated from Edinburgh University in 1987 and has 30 years experience in the pharmaceutical industry (ICI, AstraZeneca, Grunenthal). She is a molecular biologist with a focus mainly in target identification & validation, she had responsibility for initiation of new drug discovery projects into the AstraZeneca portfolio. Sarah was a Drug Discovery Project Leader at AstraZeneca and she also has extensive experience in collaboration management and project management of large public-private consortia. More recently, working in the Innovative Medicines Unit at Grunenthal she has provided expertise in assessing opportunities for in licensing candidate drugs, and also providing expertise to fill gaps in their preclinical drug discovery programmes. Sarah lives on a smallholding in the Lake District with horses, pigs, hens and sheep.
