Guido Kirsten studied Chemistry at the University of Saarbrcken and received his diploma in Theoretical and Physical Chemistry in 1999. He joined the Max Planck Institute in Mlheim/Ruhr immediately after. He developed new optimization methods for Heterogenous Catalysts by application of Combinatorial Chemistry and Genetic Algorithms. He received his Ph.D. in 2003 and joined CCG in 2004. He is member of the German Chemical Society and was board member of the Computational Chemistry Division (CIC) from 2012 until 2016
