Owkin was co-founded in 2016 by Thomas Clozel, a hematologist oncologist and researcher, and Gilles Wainrib, a computer science teacher-researcher at the École Normale Supérieure, and a Stanford University PostDoc.  
 

Owkin is a French-American startup that deploys AI and Federated Learning for medical research. Our mission is to empower researchers in hospitals, universities, and pharmaceutical companies to:  
 
- understand why drug efficacy varies from patient to patient,  
- enhance the drug development process, and  
- identify the best drug for the right patient to improve treatment outcomes.  
 

Our latest projects include: Mesothelioma research with Centre Léon Bérard published in Nature Medicine, the COVID-19 AI Consortium to bring breakthrough medical discoveries and actionable findings to the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic and HE2RNA, our novel genomics analysis recently published in Nature Communications.
