Raivo Viluis is the Founder and Research Director of the Competence Center for Food and Fermentation Technologies and Professor Emeritus at Tallinn University of Technology. He graduated from Moscow State University, Faculty of Physics. He gained his Ph.D. from the Institute of Chemical Physics, Academy of Sciences of the Soviet Union, Moscow. He worked in different Institutes of the Academy of the Sciences of the ESSR. His scientific interests cover systems biology, synthetic biology, modelling of cellular metabolism, energy metabolism of cells, advanced cultivation methods of cells, computer-controlled cultivations, software development, physics of conformational changes of proteins, biomedicine, environmental sciences, and educational technologies. Raivo is the founder of several companies. He has been a visiting scientist, and visiting professor in Estonia, Finland, Germany, and France.
