After training as a Clinical Bioinformatician in an NHS genetics laboratory working on rare diseases and cancer, Natalie moved to Public Health England to work in the National Infection Service. Currently, she works with respiratory and systemic bacteria including Group A and B Strep, Legionella, and Streptococcus pneumoniae as part of the national surveillance programme. This involves undertaking bioinformatic analysis for both immediate public health interventions during outbreaks, monitoring changes to inform vaccine schedules and development, and research activities to widen our understanding of the genomics of the infectious agent.
