Dr. Garcia-Contreras is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the Oklahoma University Health Sciences Center. Her research is focused on the design, formulation and evaluation of drugs and vaccines delivered by the pulmonary route for the treatment and prevention of tuberculosis and other respiratory infectious diseases. She has also extended her research to developing novel approaches to treat gynecological and lung cancers. She has published a number of papers and book chapters in the pharmaceutical and biomedical literature, with 5 of her articles having more than 100 citations. Dr. Garcia-Contreras is particularly known for her work on pulmonary administration to laboratory animal models and pharmacokinetics of inhaled drugs, which is the topic of her talk today.
