Dan Skomski is an Associate Principal Scientist at Merck in the Pharmaceutical Sciences division. He received his PhD in Materials Chemistry from Indiana University studying the fabrication of organic nanomaterials via self-assembly using microscopic and spectroscopic characterization tools. At Merck he has worked on a number of programs in long-acting implants, as well as oral tablet formulations, as functional representative for the drug product physical characterization group. His research interests include imaging, machine-based deep learning, and modeling. Dan chairs Merck’s Imaging & Microscopy Network, bringing together a diverse group of subject matter experts to enhance cross-functional learnings and collaborations. He is also actively involved externally in chairing symposia and authoring manuscript publications.
