Dr. Juan F. Espinosa is Senior Research Advisor of Discovery Chemistry Research & Technologies at Lilly Research Laboratories. He is leading the biophysics group of the Spanish Site in Alcobendas-Madrid. Juan studied Chemistry at the University of Alcalá where he obtained a Master Degree in Organic Chemistry in 1994. He received a Ph. D. in Chemistry from University of Alcalá in 1998 for his studies on the conformational behavior of carbohydrate analogues free in solution and bound to proteins, conducted at the Spanish Research Council in Madrid, under the supervision of Jesus Jimenez-Barbero. He moved to USA from 1998 to 1999 to complete a postdoctoral fellowship in the laboratory of Prof. Samuel Gellman at the University of Madison-Wisconsin, working on the design and conformational analysis of beta-hairpin forming peptides. He returned to Spain in 2000 to join the Lilly Research Site in Spain as Senior NMR Spectroscopy. He was promoted to Senior Research Scientist in 2003, Principal Research Scientist in 2007, Research Advisor in 2012 and Senior Research Advisor in 2017.
