Currently, Alessio Cardinale is the Head of Production at Holostem Terapie Avansate, Italy and he has been in this position since 2018. Prior to this, he worked for two years as the Production and Development Manager at GMP Biopharmaceutical Facility, Ospedale Pediatrico Bambino Ges, Rome, Italy. From 2005 2016, Alessio was the Group Leader of the Laboratory of Cellular and Molecular Neurobiology at IRCCS San Raffaele Pisana. In this capacity his research focused on the role of DNA repair mechanisms in the neurodegeneration and synaptic plasticity, the role of nucleolar dysfunction in the pathogenesis of Alzheimers disease and the development of innovative immunotherapeutic strategies against oligomeric beta amyloid isoforms by intracellular antibody technology. Earlier in his career, Alessio completed his PhD in Neurosciences at the University of Rome, Tor Vergata. In 2003, he earned the EMBO scholarship in Prion Biology and Biochemistry in vitro and in vivo from the University of Zurich. This followed both his degree in Biological Sciences, magna cum laude at the University of Rome, La Sapienza and a fellowship on Intracellular antibodies at the Department of Neuroscience at the University of Rome, Tor Vergata.
