Andre Gerber

Professor of RNA Biologiy
University of Surrey
Andre Gerber
André studied Biochemistry at the University of Zurich and obtained a PhD in Cell Biology from the University of Basel. He completed post-doctoral studies at Stanford University where he started to explore RNA-protein interactions on a global scale with DNA microarrays. In 2004, he became an independent research group leader at the ETH Zurich, further investigating post-transcriptional gene regulation by RNA-binding proteins and non-coding RNAs with genomics and proteomics means in model organisms and human cells. Since 2012, he is Professor of RNA biology at the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Surrey, UK. André has published over 50 research articles and was recently awarded a Wolfson Research Merit Award from the Royal Society in recognition of his work on RNA-protein interaction networks and their role in health and disease
